Rams vs Cardinals week 5 2012
Chris Long of the Rams gets the first sack of the game, his 3rd of the year, in the first play of the second quarter. This takes the 3rd down conversion away from the Cardinals so it was a pretty big play and forces Arizona to punt.
End first quarter Rams vs Cardinals week 5
Well it’s the end of the first quarter and the Cardinals have the ball. Score is Cardinals 3 to the Rams 7.
More on the game with the Rams Cardinals week 5
Well on the first Cardinal possession did show that the Rams defense was ready for them.
Even though they did drive down the field and score with a field goal, it shows that the battle on the offensive line is going to be taking place the entire game.
Score stands at Rams 7 Cardinals 3.
Game underway Cardinals vs the Rams week 5
Ok I am now thoroughly impressed by Bradford the Rams quarterback. 2 plays and he has his offense deep into Cardinal territory.
A few plays later and St Louis scores early in the game with a touchdown pass to Lance Kendricks. St. Louis up 7 to 0.
Just before Cardinals vs Rams game week 5 2012
Well the Rams and Cardinals game is just about to get underway. If you haven’t got your picks in and your bets placed, get it done because we have less than an hour until kickoff.
If you haven’t docummented your picks do it now. If you are watching the game alone, call a friend and tell him your pick so you can gloat about it tomorrow with your buddys that you were right. If you haven’t told any of your friends, they are all gonna say you picked them after the game was half over or whatever other excuse so they don’t have to admit you were right, especially if they were wrong.
Another way you can prove you picked correctly is to log in to you favorite sportsbook and place a bet on the game. Even if it’s a small bet like $10 or $20. Winning a few bucks on a game after having a great evening watching the game with friends makes gloating about your win with your buddy’s that much more fun.
Enjoy the game everyone.
Our picks Arizona Cardinals vs St. Louis Rams week 5
A discussion about our picks for the Arizona Cardinals against St Louis Rams in week 5
I have read a wide variety of blog posts and web pages today trying to determine if my picks I posted yesterday here were in line with a lot of others and it has been an interesting day of reading.
And to be honest I have seen many posts that are picking the Rams over the Cardinals. But I have also seen just as many that also picked Arizona as I did. For those that do pick them, the point spread is all over the place too.
Some of the reasons for choosing St. Louis have ranged from the Cardinals not having near the defense that their won/loss ratio suggests to them not being truly ready to win on the road. Some say they should not have won on the road against New England, and that it was just luck that they did.
I totally disagree with many of those points. Yes I think that the Cardinals defense could use with some improvement. But if you look at how they have done inside the 20, you can see that they have the talent to make it happen. I think they just need to make it happen more consistently at mid field.
I think their defense has the potential to continue to make the big plays and I also think we may see some of those big plays in tonight’s game. I think they have shown improvement in working together over the last few weeks and tonight we should see more of that defensive teamwork in forced turnovers and holding the Rams offense and stopping more 3rd down conversions.
Defensively the Rams have shown some strength, but I also think that Kevin Kolb, quarterback for the Cardinals, has the potential to keep the defense guessing more if he can successfully coordinate with his offense and run a number of no-huddle plays. This also reduces the ability of the Rams to get their substitutions on and off the field effectively which has shown to work in the Cardinals favor at times.
All in all, I haven’t really changed my mind about the pick I made for tonight’s football game, but I have gained a bit more insight into how the Rams have been playing (to be honest even though I have watch many replays on previous games, I have not had the opportunity to watch a complete game, start to finish, the Rams have played yet this season) but I am sticking with what I stated yesterday.
In fact I wonder if I was possibly being a little too conservative and that I should have picked them by 7, but based upon what I told the guys I had the challenge with, that once I made my picks (especially for tonight’s game) I would stand by them.
It’s like placing a bet on a game the day before. You do your research, watch game replays from previous weeks, study the stats, study the lines at your favorite sportsbooks like William Hill, Bet Online, Bet Fred or others, contemplate what your gut is telling you, and make a decision and place your bet.
Although I have not changed my mind and am sticking with my picks, I think tonight’s game will be a good one. Even though the Rams have a young offense they have been developing their skills well and will likely improve and show us many big plays throughout the rest of the season, I just don’t think they are at the point yet where they can be effective enough against the Arizona defense to win the game.
Kickoff is just a few hours away.
Rick’s Picks after week 4 2012
Football Betting World makes their picks for some of next week’s games
Well the first quarter of the season is now past so let’s take a quick look at who is on top and who we want to watch close. We only have 3 teams that are undefeated at 4 – 0, Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals and the Houston Texans.
First, the Atlanta Falcons. Man these guys have been playing good and my main pick for the team to watch closely. And even though Matt Ryan, the quarterback, is second in the league for passing completion percentages, he is getting those completions when it counts.
I look for Ryan to keep passing well and moving the ball like he has been the past few weeks. He is getting decent protection in the pocket and I don’t see that changing drastically any time soon, at least for the next few games.
I am picking them to win over Washington by 7 and also the following week over Oakland by 3. This does not mean they should become complacent since we have seen that happen to teams too many times over the years, but I still think both of the above games are Atlanta’s.
They will then have a bye giving them 2 weeks to prepare to go up against Philadelphia, and although I think they have the juice to take them, I think they will need to prepare well.
Now, for the Arizona Cardinals. Another team to keep an eye on, and one that may surprise those who have not paid attention. This week they meet the Rams in St Louis and although the Rams are 2 – 0 at home I think after tomorrow night they will no longer be able to say they are undefeated at home.
I will even go out on a limb here and give my prediction for tomorrow night’s game. This is partly due to a few friends of mine that run other portals challenging me to get my picks out earlier, kinda like a sports betting portal website rivalry. I am picking Arizona over St Louis by 5.
I am even going to be so brazen as to pick another game over a week out and say I think that they can also be victorious over Buffalo by 3. That game is Sunday afternoon at home for them.
Currently I am refraining from making a prediction on their game with Minnesota who is currently at 3-1. Minnesota has been playing pretty well, and for me that is just too far out at this point in the season since I feel many of us may feel different about how we feel about a few teams after this week and next.
And finally let’s take a look at third and final team currently undefeated, the Houston Texans. They have the NY Jets this week at NY on Monday night and next week the Green Bay Packers back at home in Texas.
I think they will win over the Jets and depending on how well the Houston defense does whether it will damage the confidence of Mark Sanchez for the Jets. I sincerely hope this doesn’t happen since I would like to see him settle down his reception percentages since a game when both quarterbacks are hitting their receivers well it just makes for a much more exciting football game. I am picking Houston over the Jets by 6.
Then on Oct 14th they have Green Bay to contend with. I think this is where Houston will get their first loss on the board. I am picking Green Bay over the Texans by 4.
They could change that, but to do so they are really gonna have to have good penetration and put a lot of pressure on Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay’s quarterback. And even then I think they have an uphill battle since time and time again we have seen Rodgers read the blitz well and even when he is forced out of the pocket his reception percentages are reasonable enough to win a lot of games.
So there you have it, early in the season and I have climbed well out on the limb to give you picks on a few games this week as well as next. Picking this far out is risky to say the least, since none of us can really tell the future and things like injuries on any team as well as outside forces can change things, but darnit, I was challenged so I wanted to prove I was up to the challenge.
I strongly encourage you to not necessarily take my picks above, or anywhere else on this site as what will happen, although it might. If you are planning to bet on any of the games, be sure to study the stats as well as take a good look at the lines being offered, possibly at a good online sportsbook like William Hill, Bet Online or others.
And don’t forget that Google can be your friend, and watch some of the plays or highlights from previous games, as well as read numerous other sites and tip sheets, but use the tools available to you to make your own decision based on your research. And bet safe, and enjoy the games.
In case anyone is interested. The guy that challenged me to get my picks out sooner was Paul, a friend over at Gambling Shares. His site is fairly new but growing well and each time I have visited there are new articles to read. Check it out here. (We apologize as the site is no longer active)
The results from the first weeks picks are here.
The Cowboys or the Jets
I just hit the nfl.com site and today’s poll question is “Which team is more likely to bounce back and make the playoffs?”
Hmmmm… in a perfect world I would just answer Dallas hands down. After all they are “America’s Team”. But we all know it’s not a perfect world.
I think that Tony Romo, quarterback of Dallas has a lot of potential to be a great quarterback, I just don’t know if he can settle down enough and hit his receivers consistiently enough under pressure as witnessed by this past weeks game.
And despite fans overwhelmingly, as well as a few analysts calling for NY to put Tebow in as quarterback, coach Ryan made it pretty clear that it wouldn’t be Tebow and that he felt Sanchez was the best option to win games. I think this is a mistake. I think they should play him more to give him some work with the line and the receivers.
They do not necessarily have to start him, but I think he needs more work with the team, and if they have to call on him due to an injury, or if they want to change things up for the opponents defense I personally think they should play him a little more.
If they did give him more play and he could get things going good and the receivers got more comfortable with him, the Jets would have two good quarterbacks to call on at any time throughout games. And honestly each one could have some plays which they converted better than others and keep opposing defenses having to constantly change things up.
I think if this question were asked a few weeks from now I would feel better about my answer. But despite the above I think I am gonna go with the Cowboys.
They have a pretty tough schedule ahead of them the next few weeks, after the bye this week coming up, and if Romo can stay healthy and not let the past get to him too much they should improve as the season continues.
But we shouldn’t forget that Baltimore will be watching the films for last weeks games for insight on how to effective shut Romo down and cause turnovers.
In my opinion I just think that Dallas is in a better position to bounce back at this point in the season than the Jets. I just do not think this is Romo’s year, although he will likely be a much better quarterback at the end of the season then he is today.
Chicago Bears win over Dallas Cowboys week 4
The Bears win over the Cowboys in week 4 with a final score of Chicago 34 to Dallas 18.
Looking back at what I wrote at the start of the game I winder if I was incorrect in that I said it would not be a high scoring game.
I will have to think about that a bit on what actually constitues a high scoring game.
Chicago up by 17 against Dallas week 4
Tony Romo has just been intercepted again. This time by DJ Moore giving Chicago the ball back.
With the score currently at 27 to 10 they will likely keep the ball on the ground a lot more in this upcoming drive and do as much clock management as possible.
It’s not that Dallas won’t get the ball back because they will, but since the Bears have a 17 point lead Dallas can NOT win without scoring three times and with only 7 minutes left in the game I just don’t think they are playing well enough tonight to make something like that happen.
