Houston takes the lead back near the end of the first quarter with a touchdown. The score is Houston Texans 9 to Baltimore 3.
Baltimore gets the ball back and a decent punt return puts the ball on the 4
Offsides Week 7 Baltimore Ravens vs Houston Texans
Don’t count the Ravens out just yet, they Can win against the Texans
What is all this “Are the Ravens done with the loss of Ray Lewis?” or “Is the season over for Baltimore?” Hell NO!
Many Ravens fans and certainly their organization are not happy that he was injured and tore his right triceps in the game against Dallas last Sunday. I read that they had scheduled him for surgery and had actually changed his status to injured reserve so he could actually be back before the end of the season and no matter the outcome of this game, we wish him a speedy recovery.
And yes, the game may be a bit more difficult for them without having Lewis there on the field leading the defense, but do not discount this defense so easily. Don’t forget about Bernard Pollard at strong safety and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe.
And since we mentioned linebackers, Terrell Suggs is suiting up and may see some limited play after being out with an ankle injury. Ramon Harewood is also expected back at tackle.
And if you check out what Frank said at OddsOnBetting, he claims that defense is a very important part of this game and on that I will agree, but what I don’t agree with is his choice of who has the superior defense. I think that the Texans will be unpleasantly surprised by the defense that the Ravens will throw at them Sunday afternoon.
I think we will see from nearly the beginning of the game the pressure they will apply on Houston’s quarterback Matt Schaub will be enough for make him work more on the move, and he really throws better when the pocket does not collapse and has made many more mistakes on the move.
It’s the offense that scores the points in a football game
And when you talk offense, by the numbers, Baltimore’s offense is rated at 7th to the 14th ranked offense of Houston.
Yes they have not yet faced the Texans defense yet this year, but they haven’t exactly been playing flag football so far this year either.
I think the quarterback Joe Flacco has improved his numbers on the move, and I think we will see Ray Rice have one of his best games this season so far against the Texans.
As of tonight while writing this article I see that many of the sportsbooks have the Texans as 6 to 7 point favorites, but I will disagree with that. I honestly think that like a number of other upsets we have seen the past few weeks, I believe that the Texans are about to get upset by the Ravens.
I just checked and one of our recommended sportsbooks, Bet Online has the Texans as a 7 point favorite. You can take them for that if you want, but I still think Baltimore will win this one.
I also encourage you to see the article by Frank Benjamin at OddsOnBetting Why Houston Will Cover the Spread Against the Baltimore Ravens.
San Francisco wins against Seattle Seahawks week 7
Well I knew it was going to be a game of defense but I didn’t realize how much so. I was really impressed with how well the 49er’s were able to run the ball in the second half.
Seattle clearly has a strong defense themselves, but the 49er’s were still able to give give Frank Gore the blocking he needed and we was able to find the hole and gets the yards. He ended the evening with over 180 yards total and over 130 of that was on the ground.
Although the Seahawks have the final possession, they just can’t do a thing with it. The San Francisco 49ers win the game with a score of 13 to 6.
49er’s extend lead against Seahawks
A 49er field goal extends the lead over the Seahawks. The score is now 13 San Francisco to 6 Seattle.
Now more than ever the Seahawks need to work their 4th quarter magic. they must not allow a turnover and must protect the ball.
Seahawks vs 49er’s week 7
San Francisco is clearly playing an entirely different offensive game this half. They have been making their yard calm and carefully and mostly on the ground.
Then just before the 49er’s are able to capitalize they run a pass play deep within Seahawk territory and throw an interception. This gives Seattle the ball and a shot at doing something but like many times this game another missed catch by the Seattle offense.
The 49er’s get the ball again.
Seattle vs San Francisco week 7
Now that San Francisco has scored a touchdown, their first in 6 quarters by the way, they have a bit of momemtum and likely their confidence.
Seattle really has to answer San Francisco with a touchdown here and it appears they understand it. But a big mistake by Wilson and he throws an interception that is picked off by Dashon Goldson a 49er safety.
This immediately chages the entire face of the game and the Seattle defense needs to force a turnover or 3 and out in order to get a handle on the game back.
It’s San Francisco ball the score is still 10 to 6 49er’s leads.
49er’s vs Seahawks week 7
The first drive of the half and the Seahawks moved the ball well. A few decent runs by Marshawn Lynch, running back for the Seahawks and the yards are adding up for him.
A penalty called on the kick gives the ball back to Seattle, but they couldn’t convert and they punt it away.
This next drive by San Francisco is very important. They have no memtum and have gone 3 and out on the last 3 posssessions they had in the first half.
The 49er’s are being more careful this drive and going more for the short stuff in the air and also giving the ball to San Francisco running back Frank Gore.
In fact it’s ironic that they actually had 6 first downs in this drive, which is also what they had the entire first half. They end up getting the touchdown with a run by Delanie Walker. this gives San Francisco the lead for the first time in the game. The score is 10 to 6.
Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49er’s half time
At the end of the first half the score stands at 6 Seattle to 3 San Francisco.
Like I said in an earlier post during the first quarter, I think that San Francisco needs to concentrate more on their running game. They have been much more effective and gained more yards on the ground then they have in the air.
Seattle just needs to keep doing more of what they have been, only they need to be a little more effective with their 3rd down conversions once they get into 49er territory.
Seattle vs San Francisco 2nd quarter
A missed 51 yard field goal by Seattle gives San Francisco good filed postion.
The Seattle defense does a good job against the run this drive and stop the 49er’s from getting a much needed first down and San Francisco has top punt again.
So with minutes left in the first half so far we have had a low scoring game with no touchdowns and just under 5 minutes left in the half.
Seattle gets the ball with good field position
San Francisco really needed to do something on this drive but wer not able to. And speaking of defense, the powerful defense of Seattle stops the 49er’s and force a 3 and out.
This gives Seattle Great field postion, in fact probably the besat they have started a drive yet this game. With just over 10 minutes left in the first half, like many have predicted, the defense has been strong on both sides.
Seattle has the ball on about the 30.
