New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons 2nd Half week 10

Undefeated Atlanta Falcons start the second half down 3 points against New Orleans Saints

The Falcons defense did what had to the first drive of the Saints in the half and stop them from getting the first down. It’s now up to Matt Ryan and company to take that lead away from New Orleans.

A Great play by Corey White, cornerback for the Saints, and he pulls down a deep pass intended for Drew Davis and gets an interception on Matt Ryan. This is his first pick thrown this year and has the New Orleans team and their confidence fired up.

If the Saints can protect the ball weel throughout the second half and continue to play like they did in the 1st the Falcons may fall. A few good runs this drive and suddenly the Saints are in for the points and have extended their lead to 11.

Honestly I never thought that I would see them turn this game that far around early in the third quarter but they have. The Saints lead the Falcons 28 to 17. Matt Ryan will get the ball back, but with the confidence that the Saints defense has now I think they need to watch the secondary very close since Ryan will be looking for a big play.

The Saints force the 3 and out and this game is clearly not going the way the Falcons intended. This is likely starting to wear down their confidence a bit so they need to keep a clear head and not let it get to them and make them more prone to mistakes.

The Falcons stop the Saints on the next drive and I think it has become quite clear to them how important it is for them to shave the Saints lead down to a single score on this next drive. As he 3rd quarter ends the Falcons have the ball and are still down by 11.

Atlanta does exactly what they absolutely had to on this drive and get the points. Ending with a touchdown pass to Tony Gonzalez and the score is now 24 to 28 with the Saints still in the lead. Their defense manages to stop the saints again so we now once again have a close football game that could turn either way in the 4th quarter.

New Orleans manages to stop them from getting the six so they take the field goal and it is a one point game with the Saints in the lead 28 to 27. The New Orleans offense is putting on a great show today and I’m sure for anyone that likes to follow and bet on the underdogs is excited to see how this game has gone today. On this drive they take the field goal bumping their lead back out to 4 at a score of 31 to 27.

Atlanta will get the ball back and need to take it into the end zone in order to win the game since a field goal is not enoiugh with under 6 minutes left in the game. On a 3rd down and 3 this play is obviously one of the biggest in this drive and maybe the game and Ryan converts and gets the first down.

Talk about a close game, here we are at the 2 minute warning and Atlanta has the ball on the 1 yard line with a first down and they are down by one point. Score is currently 31 to 27. Only a touchdown will win the game for Atlanta.

Kudos to the Saints defense and they stop the Falcons on 4th down and goal with the ball deep in the red zone. The Falcons manage to stop the Saints from getting the ball out and they have one more shot at it, however Atlanta has used up all their time outs. This game will be decided in the last 49 seconds of the game.

Unbelievable, but the Atlanta Falcons have today once again have shown how and why they are the only undefeated team in the league. They kept this game exciting up to the very end, but the New Orleans Saints have taken that title away from them and win.

The New Orleans Saints win the game against the Atlanta Falcons with a final score of 31 to 27. The Falcons move to 8 wins and 1 loss and the Saints move to 4 and 5.

Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints 1st Half week 10

Will the Atlanta Falcons still be undefeated after meeting the New Orleans Saints?

Talk about starting the game with a big play and a huge pass play to White and the Falcons are on the one yard line on their first drive. Before you know it they are in the end zone and Atlanta take the early lead at 7 to 0 against the Saints.

New Orleans really has their work cut out for them in this game and their first possession shows. On the very first play of Drew Brees, quarterback for the Saints he throws a pick and the Falcons get the ball back on an interception.

Even though the Falcons do not get in for the 6 points on the drive they do get the field goal and extend the pouint lead to 10 to the Saints 0.

Drew Brees has shown so far this drive that he is not going to let the first drive get to him and has completed a pass and he has coordinated a few decent runs and gotten a first down. Then a 56 yard run and touchdown by Chris Ivory puts thepoints up for the Saints and we are back to a 3 point game and the score is New Orleans 7 to Atlanta 10.

Gotta hand it to the Saints defense as they were able to stop the Falcons on the next drive and force them to punt.

On the next series by the Saints they have had a few successful short runs and get their first down, then a pass to Lance Moore and they are at mid filed. Another short pass and first down to end the first quarter and the score is 10 to 7 with the Saints in possession of the footbal and a 1st and 10.

A few plays and boom, the Saints are in the end zone and New Orleans takes the lead early in the second quarter at 14 to 10.

A nice drive by the Falcons with a bit of mixture of passes and short runs and they are deep in the red zone and get a first down. The Saints really need to stop this drive and force the falcons to take the field goal but they are not able to and a short pass to Tony Gonzalez and the Falcons have the lead back. Score is at 17 to 14.

Like a number of people thave said the past few weeks in preparation for this week’s game, the Saints have been accessing their running game a little more than we have seen in recent weeks. But on this drive Brees misses a pass on 3rd down and the Saints are forced to punt so the Falcons will have their shot at making it a 2 score lead before the end of the half.

Gotta hand it to the saints defense and they force a 3 and out on the Falcons and they punt the ball. Brees has 2 minutes and 2 time outs left to get the lead or tie the game going into half time.

With an 18 yard pass play to Jimmy Graham they get into Falcon territory getting them close to field goal range. Anpther pass play puts them within striking distance. And another pass and Drew Brees is showing that if he is given the time in the pocket he is able to get the ball into the hands of his receivers.

And he does it with another pass and the Saints will take a 3 point lead at the half. The half time score is New Orleans Saints 21 to Atlanta Falcons 17.

Can the Cowboys meet the spread against the Eagles week 10

What is the point spread in the footbal gamme with Dallas Cowboys against the Philadelphia Eagles?

Another close game as picked by most sportsbooks today is the Dallas Cowboys against the Philadelphia Eagles. The sportsbooks as well as the fans are calling this week’s NFC East showdown game as a squeaker. The books has Dallas winning by 1 point.

Going into this game both teams are at 3 wins and 5 losses. If you look at the conference standings though it isn’t as close. Philadelphia is 1 and 4 in the NFC but Dallas is 3 and 4. This puts both teams in a must win situation. Talk about incentive for the players to be fired up and this sure is it.

Both teams have decent quarterbacks with the potential to win games, but when you look at the defenses those offenses will be up against is where things change.

Sure Michael Vick, quarterback for the Eagles has had controversy surrounding him off the field, but today we want to talk football. Besides the occasional mistake that any quarterback can make while making a throw, they need an offensive line that protects them.

This is one of the things that makes Vick’s job so difficult and today will be no different. I look for the Cowboy defense to go after Vick from the beginning of the game and not letting up on him in all 4 quarters.

Outside linebackers DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer will be all over Vick and have him on the move the whole game. Sean Lee and Bruce Carter (ILB) will be there to assist as well as helping keep an eye on the inside.

The toughest job the Cowboys defense will have to containg LeSean McCoy runningback on the outside and also keeping an eye out for Vick to pick a hole and running it himself.

On the offense we Tony Romo as quarterback with over 2000 yards and hitting his receivers over 66% of the time. The Eagles will try to keep him on the move and force mistakes but I really think that the Cowboys offensive line will not allow the penetration and give Romo enough time in the pocket to do his job.

Overall even though the books have the Cowboys as single point winners, I personally think they should have no problem meeting the spread. In fact I will pick the Cowboys to beat the Eagles by 3.

Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars 2nd Half week 10

The Second half in week 10 of Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville defense does their job on the first drive in the second half and stop the Colts from picking up any more points.

The Indianapolis colts defense answers with a pick and quick 6 with the touchdown from an interception extending their lead early in the third quarter. The score is now 23 to 3 with the Colts leading.

It seems like each time the Jaguars have a decent play or two they get sacked for a big loss or they get charged with a penalty and then do not convert on third down. It hapopened again on their next drive and the Colts get the ball back once again with unanswered points.

A few good defensive plays and Jacksonville holds the Colts and they have to punt the football. The Jaguars will get the ball back on the 24 yard line with just under 7 minutes left in the third quarter.

Bad timing for another 3 and out but that has been Jacksonville’s night so far with mistakes and failures to turn good field position or big plays from their defense into a scoring drive.

The Colts will get the ball back with just over 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. The Colts still have the ball at the end of the 3rd quarter and the score is still 23 to 3.

Another good play by the Jaguar defense and they force a fumble and recover the ball. This latest drive by Jacksonville is possibly one of the best of the game. The quarterback on this drive has been Chad Henne instead of Blaine Gabbert. And they get a touchdown and the score is now 10 to 23 with Jacksonville in the lead. There is just over 9 minutes in the game.

After using a good bit of time off the clock the Colts take another field goal and take the score to 27 to 10 Jacksonville. The Jaguars will get the ball back with just over 3 minutes left.

And what could have been the last play of the game for the Jaguars the ball is tipped in the air and picked off by the Colts and returned 51 yards giving the Colts the ball back deep in Jacksonville territory. Since there is only a minute plus left the Colts will win this game on a knee.

The final score Colts 27 to Jaguars 10. This win puts the Colts in 3rd place in the AFC and certainly makes their playoff picture look brighter.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Indianapolis Colts 1st Half week 10

The Indianapolis Colts face the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 10

The Jaguars go 3 and out on their first possession which is really not a surprise and the Colts get started on their first possession. And the Colts also go 3 and out on their first drive.

We have seen starts like this in recent weeks and ended up having a really good game and I am hoping that tonight’s game is no different. The excitement doesn’t seem to be coming from Jacksonville so far and they go 3 and out again and the Colts get their second shot at the ball with great field position.

It appears that Andrew Luck is reading the line better this drive and his receivers are managing to get free of the defenders and getting open for the reception. They have also had a few good short runs and they are quickly in scoring distance.

However on a 3rd and 5with the ball on about the 7 yard line the Jaguars manage to get the sack and force them to kick and they take the field goal and the first score of the night. The score stands at Colts 3 to Jaguars 0.

A much nicer drive by Jacksonville this possession. On the first down they had a pass play that might have been questionable to being considered a complete pass but it was called that way on the field. The Jags were quick to line up and get another play off before the play could be challenged which was very intelligent.

A few more short passes as well as runs and they are in Colt territory. Since they did not get the 3rd down conversion Jacksonville attempts a 44 yard field goal and misses so the Colts get the ball back with unanswered points.

As we reach the end of the first quarter with the score at 3 to 0 and the Colts have the football on the Jaguars 29 with a 1st and 10. The Colts manage to geet into the red zone and then a short pass play seems to fall apart from the 5 and Andrew Luck runs it in himself and gets the touchdown so Indianapolis has the lead at 10 to 0 early in the second quarter.

What was starting to appear to be the best drive of the game so far for Jacksonville and a short pass is stipped away and the Colts recover. They get the ball back on their own 39. A great pass to Donnie Avery and they get the first down on the 7 yard line.

A second touchdown by Andrew Luck on the ground and the Colts are up 17 to 0. The play was a bit controversial and the Jaguars coach kinda lost his head and got a penalty for unsportmanslike conduct which hurt the Jaguar field position on the kickoff.

The Jaguars can not convert the drive into points and must punt. On the next drive, after the Colts are having some success under heavy pressure in the secondary the Jaguars pick off the pass and get the interception.

Jacksonville has just under 2 minutes to get the ball down field and score. Jacksonville takes the field goal as the half nears the end. The half time score is Jacksonville 3 to Indianapolis 17.

Will Chicago Bears conquer the Houston Texans in week 10

Will Chicago Bears prove Sportsbooks right and win over Houston Texans?

As we enter week 10 we are starting to get a glimpse of the possible scenarios in the playoffs, and both the Houston Texans and the Chicago Bears have shown themselves to be teams that will have to be dealt one way or another within their conference.

The Texans have a 7 and 1 record, and they are 7-0 in their conference. But the Bears are also 7-1. They are 4-1 in their conference but they have also had a bit tougher schedule so far this year.

Defensively I believe the Bears will keep just enough pressure on the Texans quarterback Matt Schaub that they will stick with their running game which they mostly do anyway. Shaub will have his hands full dealing with defensive ends Corey Wootton, Julius Peppers and Israel Idonije.

We just may see another big game played by cornerback Charles Tillman. Last week against the Titans he had 4 forced fumbles. Whether he is able to force a fumble or not, he will be there to make the tackles.

The Bears like to play really physical get in your face kind of football. From the very beginning of the game and all night Schaub and the Houston running backs will know that for them to get down field, they will have to go through them, and they are going to make that job as difficult for them as they can.

Running plays on the ground likely to dominate the football game

Both teams like to run the ball so I think we will see that the running game dominates most of the football game and they both have really strong defensive lines. However I honestly believe that the Texans may be in for a surprise from the running game of the Bears too.

They may find it difficult to stop running backs Matt Forte or Armando Allen, and don’t forget about big play maker Michael Bush as well. Any one of them could easily break a tackle or find a hole to get that first down or make the big play with a huge gain.

Are we in for a really good, physical game on Sunday night? Yes. Are the Bears going to come away with another win this week against the Texans? Yes again.

Wednesday night the lines on this game had Chicago as 1 point favorites. I think that might be a little conservative, but I am certainly picking the Bears as my favorite in the late game on Sunday.

Point Spread Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars week 10

What is the point spread in the Indianapolis Colts football game with the Jacksonville Jaguars?

On Thursday Novenber 8th 2012 the Jacksonville Jaguars will face the Indianapolis Colts in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars record is currently at 1 win and 7 losses and the Colts are at 5 and 3. The Colts are 1-2 on the Road but they are 3-2 in the conference. The Jag’s are 1-3 in the conference but 0-4 at home.

Just the standings alone will give you a fairly good indication of who the favorites are. But I do caution you to not always just go by the numbers alone since we have seen quite a few upsets in recent weeks as well as throughout the season so far. A number of favorites have lost to supposed underdogs this year.

Another thing to consider is that this is the second game these two have played this season. They met in week 3 in Indianapolis and it is the only win that Jacksonville has had this year.

I read a report the other day that the Jaguars would win because the Colts quarterback did not have the experience to beat Jacksonville. Keep in mind that although the Colts quarterback is a rookie, he is having one heck of a year. In fact he has been setting records as a rookie so do not discount that.

What we we personally think will happen and what is the point spread? Well I think that Jacksonville will come in to the game with the confidence they can win, and they will play strong, maybe even better then they have so far this year.

However, quarterback Andrew Luck is coming off a great game from last week so he has a bit of momentum also. They beat the Texans last week at home.

I look for Jacksonville to try and shut down Luck early and they will attempt to cover wide receivers Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton, but this will be difficult, and they also have Donnie Avery as well as tight end Dwayne Allen and a few others that Luck can throw to. Over the last few weeks Luck, has shown that he can make the completions.

With the game only 2 days away the line on this game at both Bet Online and William Hill has the Colts as a 3 point favorite. I agree that the Colts can win this and feel the 3 points is a pretty fair assessment and think that they should be able to make the spread.

No matter what the outcome of the football game is on Thursday, it is shaping up to be a good one. It may not be the highest scoring of games for the week, but it may well have some surprises on both sides of the ball.

Philadelphia Eagles vs New Orleans Saints 2nd Half week 9

Second half of New Orleans Saints vs Philadelphia Eagles

The Saints had a few short yard runs shut down at the line of scrimmage in the first drive of the half, but that’s ok since they were effective with a handful of short passes and they get into Eagle territory.

The Eagles just do not seem to have the coverage down in the secondary and the receivers are getting open and getting the receptions.

Ironically after I say something about a lack of defense and the Eagles force a turnover and get the ball back on a fumble. This is something Phiadelphia needs to help change the tempo back in their favor but they need to make sure not to squander this and convert on the possession.

And in one play the Eagles do just that and Michael Vick goes deep with a pass to DeSean Jackson and he breaks a tackle at mid field and gets into the end zone and the score is at Eagles 10 to Saints 21.

And on the kick off return the Eagles manage to force another fumble and Philadelphia recovers and the Eagles appear to be back in the game. The next play Vick doesn’t see anyone open so he runs it and gets the first down. They do not conver the 6 points but take a field goal so the score is now 13 to 21.

The amount of time that the Eagle defense is giving Saints quarterback Drew Brees to find a receiver open is way more then they should and with a quarterback as accurate as he is he will make the play almost every time. This drive was no different and they the score again. New Orleans lead 28 to Philadelphia 13.

On the kick off return the Eagles try a trick play. The ball is fielded by Brandon Boykin, but just as he catches it, off to the far right of him is Riley Cooper lying on the field in the end zone. He jumps up and Boykin does a lateral to Cooper and he runs down field. He does a good job of avoiding a tackle and actually runs the entire length of the field and gets what most think is a touchdown.

They do call the play back since the lateral was actually a forward pass, had it been a bit further back and not gone forward they would have gotten away with it, but it didn’t work.

As the third quarter ends a pass by Michael Vick get the Eagles at mid field and the score is still 28 to 13. Once again the ball is fumbled and the Saints recover and just over 2 minutes in the football game so it appears that the Eagles just could not pull off a win tonight.

Philadelphia stops the Saints again and they will get the ball back but it will not help them much the way they have played tonight. A decent drive and as the clock is winding down the Eagles have made it into the red zone again.

The Saints win the game with a score of Eagles 13 to Saints 28.

New Orleans Saints vs Philadelphia Eagles 1st Half week 9

First half of New Orleans Saints vs Philadelphia Eagles

As the game is starting I am wondering how many rushing yards Michael Vick will have at the end of the game. And after a handful of plays I wonder how many plays that Vick can get hit like he has on the first drive. Unable to convert on a 3rd down after reaching mid field the Eagles punt.

What appeared at the beginning to be a big converting drive for the Saints ended just after mid field and the Eagles shut down the drive so the Saints also punt on the first possession.

A great run by the rookie Brown and they get inside the 10 and it’s first and goal. OMG what a play by the Saints. A tipped ball on a pass to the end zone and the ball is picked off and the Saints run it down the field for a 99 yard touchdown. The Saints get the early lead 7 to 0.

As the 1st quarter ends the Eagles still have the ball and they have already gotten over 100 yards on the ground. Philadelphia has actually been the dominant team during the quarter but it is the Saints who have the lead.

Another possession by the Eagles that has them deep in the red zone and yet they do not get the touchdown. They do end the drive with a field goal so the score is now 3 to 7 Saints lead.

The Saints have started to get their run game in order, or at least they have on this past drive. They get into the end zone again and extend their lead to 11 and the score is 14 to 3.

The Eagles get stopped again and punt the ball. The Saints get it back with approximately 5 minutes left in the half. A third touchdown for the Saints, this time from a pass and they have a big lead just before the end of the half and it 21 to 3.

And the Eagles have another failed drive and the Saints have enough time to run a few decent plays. The are unable to do it and the Eagles will get the ball with 11 seconds so just enough time for 1 play.

The half time score is Saints 21 to Eagles 3.

Atlanta Falcons vs Dallas Cowboys 2nd Half week 9

Second half of Dallas Cowboys vs the Undefeated Atlanta Falcons

Felix Jones, has a great run and a first down to start the quarter. A few plays later another great run and they are at mid field with a first down. Atlanta is successful in their blitz on a 3rd down and Dallas punts.

It’s interesting to note that neither team has been in the end zone yet in this game. Will the first team to get there take the game? An 18 yard pass to Julio Jones and the Falcons have a first down. Then on a 3rd down and 12 under heavy pressure Matt Ryan throws on the move and they have a first down. Next play another nice throw to Roddy White and they are at mid field with a first down.

Dallas defense makes a good play on 3rd down and they force Atlanta to attempt a field goal. Once again they miss the field goal and Dallas gets the ball back with the score still tied. Honestly i think we can call this an evening of missed opportunities for both teams. Two missed field goals for Atlanta and twice Dallas has been very deep in Falcon territory and did not get the points.

Once again Dallas seems to be moving the ball well but just as they are reaching mid field they get a holding call to hurt their progress. Another play with short yardage and it brings up a 3rd and 13 making another must convert and Romo throws an incomplete pass and it’s 4th down and the kicking team comes on the field.

The kick is great and for some reason the Atlanta return team decides to return the ball from the 2 but they are stopped on the spot. But Dallas draws a penalty from the kick by having a man go out of bounds, giving Atlanta the opportunity to force a re-kick with a 5 yard penalty, and on the next kick Atlanta get the ball out to the 14 or so instead of being pinned down deep in their own territory.

A huge run by Michael Turner, 43 yards, and Atlanta suddenly has great field position with a first down deep in Dallas territory with just over a half minute in the 3rd quarter. Shortly after that Atlanta finally gets in to the end zone getting the first touchdown of the game and Atlanta has the lead for the first time in the game. Score is 13 to 6.

A 3 and out on the Cowboys here is the last thing they wanted but that is what happens and they must punt so Atlanta gets the ball back with unanswered points from their previous drive.

Dallas needs a big defensive play here now more than ever and Atlanta needs a score now to give them a two score lead and a big run gets them into field goal range, even though after 2 misses so far they are likely concentrating on the end zone.

Dallas defense makes a big play and a sack and forces them into a 2nd and long but they get a 10 yard run and its 3rd and 10. Ryan goes to the air and it’s incomplete and they must kick. On a 36 yard attempt his 5th kick of the night and they get the field goal and extend their lead to 16 to Dallas 6.

A handful of short passes and Dallas is moving the ball well and staying in a no huddle offense and very quickly they are in the end with a pass to Kevin Ogletree. So in less than 2 and half minutes they have made it a 3 point game again and the score is Dallas 13 to Atlanta 16.

Dallas misses what is likely their most important play of the game and on 3rd down they open a big hole in the middle and Atlanta gets a first down with just over 3 minutes in the game and the Falcons are at mid field. Dallas is forced to use up their time outs to stop the clock between each play while on defense.

Then Dallas blows it again on the 3rd down with a holding call and Atlanta gets the first down with the call. On the next play Dallas must use their last time out and it’s 2nd and 5 with just over 3 minutes in the game.

Atlanta gets another first down and they are in Dallas territory but more importantly, as we hit the 2 minute warning Dallas must force a turnover or keep Atlanta from making a field goal in order to have a small chance to do something if they are able to get the ball back with any time left on the clock since they are completely out of time outs.

Atlanta goes for the field goal and there is 22 seconds left so Dallas will get the ball back with 17 seconds on the clock. Score is Atlanta 19 to Dallas 13.

They will have 17 seconds and may have just enough time to run 2 plays if they manage to get out of bounds on the play.

Two plays at 3 and 4 seconds each they get a first down and they need a hail mary. A 3rd play of the same thing and they still need about 60 yards for the score. The last play of the game is a decent one but the receiver runs out of time and he is tackled and the game is over.

Atlanta Falcons wins over the Dallas Cowboys 19 to 13.
